A scarce example of the NPEA chained leaders dagger sold through the Berlin-based firm of Karl Burgsmuller. Less than 5000 NPEA daggers, of all types, are thought to have been produced. The chained leaders dagger being particularly difficult to find in the market place.

NPEA chained leaders dagger for sale. The dagger sold through the Berlin-based firm of Karl Burgsmuller. The dagger with a fine mid-brown fruit wood grip, which fits nicely to the upper and lower cross guards. The grip wood with a fine and attractve vertical grain. The grip complete with the nickle-silver inset eagle/swastika emblem. The dagger retaining nickel-silver plated fittings throughout.

The blade with the NPEA stylised motto to the obverse, and the Type 1 Karl Burgsmuller name to the reverse. The chained scabbard complete with its olive drab paint finish.

Condition report: The NPEA dagger surviving in overall very good towards excellent condition, with the blade in excellent towards near mint condition.  The fine fruit wood grip in perfect condition, free from cracks or splits. The grip with excellent overall fitting to the crosssguards. The nickel-silver plated mounts clean and with much of the plated finish remaining (95%). The blade with a good original polished finish, and with most original cross grain.  The  motto clear. and sharp. The reverse of the blade with the Burgsmuller name clear and sharp. Typical light runner marks present. The scabbard in particularly clean condition, with 95% original olive drab paint finish remaining. Some age related micro-blistering present on close inspection with an eye glass. Scabbard shell free from dents or other damage. Chains in good order. All screws present to scabbard mounts. Dented bottom ball.
